This index includes the Brunswick Telegraph for 1850-1903. I incorporated my own research with that of Mr. John Goff, who wrote a chronological index primarily centered on the architectural history of Brunswick, Maine. I input all of this on a database of more than 30,000 entries.
The Snow Index to the Brunswick Record 1903-1960 comes from my research. I created a database of over 1,000,000 entries. All obituaries (cc. 11,000), marriages (over 10,000), reunions (cc.200), anniversaries (cc.200) are recorded. In addition, all pictures and anyone/anything in those pictures have been indexed (over 36,000).
Names are entered by first, middle, last and maiden names fields. Important historical events, articles, and biographies are also included (over 5,000). With this index one should be able to immediately find what is being researched.
Many thanks go to the Brunswick Library and its Library Director, Stephen Podgajny, Bowdoin College Library and its Librarian Sherrie S. Bergman, and the Times-Record and its President and publisher, Douglas M. Niven for their sponsorship of the project to get the Index on the Internet. In addition, many thanks should be given to Brian Damien, for his tireless work to transfer the index into a format for its use as an internet-ready research tool.
I hope this index, in some small way, will bring the past of Brunswick and its environs closer to the present and ease the burden of researchers from the tedium of scanning many pages in order to find specific information. My work will be well worth it if the Index is useful and brings satisfaction to those who use it now and in the future.
